21 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?(A)
Has it not been told(B) you from the beginning?(C)
Have you not understood(D) since the earth was founded?(E)
22 He sits enthroned(F) above the circle of the earth,
and its people are like grasshoppers.(G)
He stretches out the heavens(H) like a canopy,(I)
and spreads them out like a tent(J) to live in.(K)
23 He brings princes(L) to naught
and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.(M)
24 No sooner are they planted,
    no sooner are they sown,
no sooner do they take root(N) in the ground,
than he blows(O) on them and they wither,(P)
and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.(Q)

25 “To whom will you compare me?(R)
Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One.(S)
26 Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens:(T)
    Who created(U) all these?
He who brings out the starry host(V) one by one
and calls forth each of them by name.
Because of his great power and mighty strength,(W)
not one of them is missing.(X)

27 Why do you complain, Jacob?
    Why do you say, Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord;
my cause is disregarded by my God”?(Y)
28 Do you not know?
    Have you not heard?(Z)
The Lord is the everlasting(AA) God,
the Creator(AB) of the ends of the earth.(AC)
He will not grow tired or weary,(AD)
and his understanding no one can fathom.(AE)
29 He gives strength(AF) to the weary(AG)
and increases the power of the weak.
30 Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men(AH) stumble and fall;(AI)
31 but those who hope(AJ) in the Lord
    will renew their strength.(AK)
They will soar on wings like eagles;(AL)
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.(AM)

13 I do not want you to be unaware,(A) brothers and sisters,[a](B) that I planned many times to come to you (but have been prevented from doing so until now)(C) in order that I might have a harvest among you, just as I have had among the other Gentiles.

14 I am obligated(D) both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. 15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.(E)

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel,(F) because it is the power of God(G) that brings salvation to everyone who believes:(H) first to the Jew,(I) then to the Gentile.(J) 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed(K)—a righteousness that is by faith(L) from first to last,[b] just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”[c](M)

God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity

18 The wrath of God(N) is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.(O) 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made,(P) so that people are without excuse.(Q)

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened.(R) 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools(S) 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images(T) made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
